Playing a fantasy sport online involves dealing with a lot of statistics. Participants need to keep track of a lot of information (such as points, goals scored, assists done, clean-sheets, cards faced, injuries etc) about every soccer player, to make an informed decision regarding team selection and transfer. Hover the usage of spread-sheets, heavy graphics, inaccessible tabs, pop-over windows, etc make the entire game unsuitable for people with visual impairments.
A couple of sessions were held with Vincent, a PhD stdent at the Sonification lab, who is visually impaired. He was told to think aloud as he tried to login and create his own fantasy soccer team at the existing fantasy league website. We noticed a lot of problems, inlcuding too much graphics at the top, inaccessbile flash-based information, also autoplaying videos that render screenreaders useless.
